What exactly is family camp?

Family Camp is a weekend for the whole family to enjoy the Scouting experience together!

Our Family Camp is open to all children in the Scout Group, along with their parents, carers and siblings. It’s a chance to get away for the weekend, enjoy the outdoors, make new friends and, most importantly, have lots of fun together.

Held at Ferny Crofts Activity Centre in the New Forest, Family Camp is camping — but made easy! There’s no need for anyone to take on the whole weekend by themselves. Everyone chips in and helps out, whether that’s helping with meals, setting up, tidying up or simply lending a hand when needed. It’s a real team effort, and that’s what makes it such a friendly and relaxed weekend.

The children are kept busy with loads of fun activities from Saturday morning until Sunday lunchtime , giving them the chance to try new things, learn new skills and earn plenty of badges along the way. There’s something for everyone, and lots of opportunities to make new friends.

When the day winds down, we come together as a group for food, laughter and a good old campfire. On Sunday morning, we eat breakfast together before enjoying a final morning of fun before packing up and heading home.

Family Camp is much more than just a weekend of camping. It’s a chance for families to spend time together, for children to experience adventure, and for our Scout community to come together.

So, if you’ve never been camping before, don’t worry — Family Camp is a great place to start! Come along, pitch your tent, join in, lend a hand and enjoy a fantastic weekend with the whole Scout family.
